Hi all we are working hard with a small team to get things working.. we even set ourselves a deadline..
Thank you all for the great helmet accessory ideas.. when the level from the screen is shaping up I’ll start on them..
I would like you to get involved on the city level too. If you have any ideas or fitting artwork for posters and/or advertisement signs.. please do post them.. preferably a link in your post to an image..
Your tags are welcome too.. I’ll smack them on the walls of the level :)

again I’d like to mention we’ve put the project on Rockethub RocketHub
spread the word and make sure rich people get to see it :)

Cheers!

ps: Jay is working on Roadkill again.. so this year might be the year making up for all the waiting.. ;)

Foreign Legion: Multi Massacre

Hi All, first of all happy holldays to the load of you! We been over this some times before but now this thing is for real.. Foreign Legion: Multi Massacre is in the making.. We all ready got 4 players runnning around and killing badguys on a local network.. There is no feeling as great as killing together. Of course you can kill each other too. :) For that I’m working on a new level.. There is also gonna be a pretty sick suprise comming allong since we all love shooting animals to peaces.. Well we are aiming for a release on steam for mac and pc in about 2 months.. Sakari Indie is colaborating with Grin Multimedia.. Wim Wouters has a big heart for this project and he set one of his in house programmers Jelle Voet on the code. Jelle is now doing the Steam side so we finally have cloud support :)

Some more good stuff about the game:
- You will be able to use the same character from Foreign Legion: Buckets of Blood.. so your weapons and level stay.
- Tell us your weird helmet accessory fetish and the winner will get his name for that one. (Don’t hold back If you want a green fluffy dildo on there we will do it.)
- Its again all about creating a game for fun. And at a reasonable price.. there will be packs too :) Let us know what you would like to spend on it..

A and for those who care.. since we are funding ourselves again :).. we’ve put the project on Rockethub RocketHub

Hi all, sorry for the hick-up, it seamed that some people had some trouble unlocking the steam achievement for the summer sale. It was due to an outdated file that was accidentally shipped with the steam build. But all is fine now.. It worked in a lot of cases and typically in all the cases we tested it. But thats water under the bridge now.. We would like to thank you for pointing it out to us.. and hope you enjoy the game that is on -66% discount during the summer sale on steam.. fire up that barbecue!!

About our tools

For those who like making their own games (a fun thing to do I can assure you). Here is a short list of the tools we use at sakari. And most of them are actually free.

For modeling we use Blender, still the 2.49b :). Blender is the most productive 3d model package around. It’s not that hard to learn and there are some great tutorial sites around like blendercookie.com. Get blender for FREE at www.blender.org

The game engine we use is Unity3D. Unity3D is our weapon of choice. And just like Blender extremely productive and a great bunch of fun to work with. It is so easy to use and to learn. Best of all for you. It is FREE! well the indie version is. we use the pro with the asset server. But the free version will get you really far. Get unity3d at www.unity3d.com

Find yourself a 2d image editing tool, like a lite version of Photoshop or Gimp and you are good to go. I used Inkscape to do the interface gfx.

Thats pretty much all you need to start making your own games. We are currently creating a game for a client that generates a lot of reusable code for the RoadKill project.

So cheers and till next time :)

Hi all, the mac people can now enjoy the goodness of the steam version. Meaning achievements more levels and nice scoring boards. On top of that if you are quick you still can get a 50% discount till August 23rd, 2010 10AM Pacific Time. Hope you enjoy the game.. For all the people that already bought the game, take a look at the steam forums, in particular the post by Saijin_Naib.. He has a link to a little video on vimeo with a look at the creators of Foreign Legion: Buckets of blood.

Steam Version For Mac

Pieter did it! The mac steam edition of foreign Legion will available soon on steam for mac. And it is a bundle!! so if you bought the pc version.. well you now also own the mac version. How about that? For the mac users that are not willing to pay for the steam version since they bought the standard mac version else where here is my proposal. Send us your receipt of your purchase and comment on some game site or popular forum what you like about the game. (and tell your friends people to buy it :)) and we will send you a free key. Now thats how we roll.. speaking of rolling..

The closed beta test of Foreign Legion: RoadKill is going well. The name changed from Karting Mayhem to RoadKill since it is way cooler :). We are receiving very useful comments from our selected group of testers. As for now the call for testers is closed but we will keep you posted on the good stuff.

Ah and happy holidays to all of you!

So we have got something that starts to look like a game.. And now are tweaking the handling of the Karts. We would like your input on this. Now we would like to start with a small select group of testers that will get access to this Pre-Beta version. So if you are interested send us a mail with the reason why you think you would give us usable feedback. Remember we are looking for feedback on car handling only. We always love your ideas on gameplay but we would like to take it one step at a time. So send your mail to info(a)sakari-indie.com and we will select a list.
