About our tools
For those who like making their own games (a fun thing to do I can assure you). Here is a short list of the tools we use at sakari. And most of them are actually free.
For modeling we use Blender, still the 2.49b :). Blender is the most productive 3d model package around. It’s not that hard to learn and there are some great tutorial sites around like blendercookie.com. Get blender for FREE at www.blender.org
The game engine we use is Unity3D. Unity3D is our weapon of choice. And just like Blender extremely productive and a great bunch of fun to work with. It is so easy to use and to learn. Best of all for you. It is FREE! well the indie version is. we use the pro with the asset server. But the free version will get you really far. Get unity3d at www.unity3d.com
Find yourself a 2d image editing tool, like a lite version of Photoshop or Gimp and you are good to go. I used Inkscape to do the interface gfx.
Thats pretty much all you need to start making your own games. We are currently creating a game for a client that generates a lot of reusable code for the RoadKill project.
So cheers and till next time :)

Ah, nice! Well, tell us when you’ve finished the game, as I’m sure a lot of us would be interested in checking it out! (I know I am! Anything by Sakari CAN’T be bad!)
And good to see that you can make games without any expensive or difficult-to-use tools; for example, I myself am qualified in AutoCAD, (2D and 3D) and Blender’s supposed to be very similar, even the interface

Hello,
I write reviews of great software from the Mac App Store and Foreign Legion is one of the great apps, I think. So is it possible to send me a mac app store promo code for Foreign Legion? If so I will write a review and make a video (in german). The review will be posted on my blog: http://applecustomerreviews.posterous.com/
As “a thank you” I will list you on my donator list, next to Virtual Programming, Flexibits Inc. and many more.
It would be great if you send me an acknowledgment.
Thank you for your efforts.
yours sincerely,
MacAppReviewer

Could you guys make it an option (in the options menu) to disable the nightvision overlay.

Sweet! I’m excited to see more of your work! :D
Would you mind shedding light on your choice to use Blender? I’ve tried it before but personally it felt a bit clunky.
